About the organisation

Organisation Name : Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria

Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. We strive towards improving the health and wellbeing of our rural communities and believe in creating opportunities, so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and strategic leader to drive the Systems Thinking with Active Implementation Research (STAIR) project—a five-year NHMRC-funded trial dedicated to creating healthier primary school environments across Victoria.

In this role, you will lead the co-design, coordination, and implementation of intervention strategies while serving as the primary liaison between participating schools and project partners (Deakin University, Department of Education, VicHealth, and Department of Health). Your ability to align stakeholder efforts, oversee project delivery, and ensure effective resource coordination, deliver training and ongoing professional development for school champions will be key to achieving meaningful outcomes. Occasional travel to rural areas is required.

If you thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to improving school health systems, we’d love to hear from you!

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead intervention processes for schools, including problem mapping and development with students, school leadership, and community stakeholders.
  • Liaise with project partners to ensure ethical, responsible, and diligent project execution.
  • Assist schools in problem-solving and adapting intervention solutions to ensure long term success
  • Compile annual reports and community-facing communications as required.
  • Track project costs and oversee budget management to ensure financial accountability.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Health Science, Research, Public Health, Education, Health Promotion, Project Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in project management, health promotion, education, or a related field.
  • Proven background in education, outreach, or health engagement, particularly with children, schools, or public health initiatives.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training sessions and professional development.
  • Familiarity with preventative education frameworks, government health initiatives, and community-based system dynamics.
  • Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail and excellent analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
  • Ability to problem solve, think critically and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current full Victorian Divers License and the ability to drive in metropolitan and rural areas
  • Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current annual influenza, Working with Children’s Check, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia.
